Generally, now most of the school kids to office goers life is completely filled with gadgets and electronics. These long usage of gadgets will occur many side effects in our body especially it is not good for eyes. Obviously, it will mainly result in eyes strain and other eyes disorders.

Regular eyes check-up
Many of the doctors are recommend everyone to test their eyes every 6 months once. If you have any mild power issues or anything, they can get it corrected easily by using spectacles. If you are a person who wears a contact lens. But do not wear it continuously, rather switch over to normal spectacles at least once or twice a week.
Another way to protect your eyes is by wearing sunglasses with UV protection when you go out. Apart from sunglasses with UV protection, even you can get a screen protector for your system screens to protect your eyes.
Also, get a desktop screen with a minimum of 25 inches so that your eyes do not get strained.
Consume fruits and vegetable
Also for an healthy eye we want to consume with a nutritious healthy diet which includes lots of fruits and vegetables. Vitamin A and Vitamin C fruits and vegetables are very good for eyes. Fruits and vegetables like carrots, oranges, green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds are all very good for eyesight.
Eyes get healthy when we consume one carrot daily in the morning. It will protect from eye strain and eye disorder. Because it is a vitamin A rich vegetable which is very essential to us. It also helps for getting a glowing skin and healthy hair.
Avoid gadgets
In these past two years, from kids to adult are using gadgets regularly either mobile phones, laptops or anything.
As much as these gadgets have helped in connecting people all over the world. Obviously, it will result in eye strain
We do not have an option apart from using the gadgets, as it is part of our daily activities. So please give a break from the gadgets and give rest.
Blinking Eyes
There is research that states that a human eye normally blinks 15 – 20 times per minutes. Whereas the same blinking of eyes gets reduced to 2 – 3 times per min when we are reading a book or watching TV or while using any gadgets. Also while focusing on gadgets many people forget to blink the eyes.
Specifically when we blink, the eyelids will spread the tears in our eyes evenly over it. Surprisingly all the parts of the eyes like sclera, lens part, retina and even on cornea.
Then the white part of our eye is called sclera. The middle part is the Lens which can be either black or brown the rear part of the eye. This is the Retina part of the eyes. Mainly these lids spread the tears all over the eyes and protect them from getting dried out.
Follow 20 – 20 – 20 rule
Many would have heard this phrase dry eyes. It is very common in people who have long hours of gadgets usage, where their tear glands does not produce tears at all. Obviously we can not stop using gadgets from the kid and IT professionals who are always on their gadgets. The best solution is the 20 – 20 – 20 rule.
For that every 20 mins, move your eyes away from the gadget and look at any other object at a distance of 20 feet for 20 seconds. So, whenever you are watching a screen for a continuous 20 mins, try to move your eyes and stare at an object 20 feet away and also blink your eyes. This 20 – 20 – 20 rule will help in protecting your eyes from strain.
Then for every 2 hours make sure you take a break for 15 minutes. Especially teach this 20 – 20 – 20 rule for the students who are attending the online classes non-stop. Also these students are using gadgets not only for online class, they will play games, chat and google something. Hence these mush usage of phone or laptops will leads to eye strain.
Bright lights
Keep your rooms well lit with bright lights as it can help your eyes see the screen clearly with any strain. And keep your book or the laptop at an arm-length distance, avoid keeping it closer.
The other important thing is just keep the monitor tilted at 10 to 15 degrees so that your eyes are not strained. If possible zoom the letters and read, instead of reading small letters by straining.
The posture of sitting
The sitting posture is also very important so that you do not strain your neck, back and eyes and take a break regularly.
Eyes exercise
When you are doing the 20 – 20 – 20 rule, we can also do the eyeball exercise which is very important for eyes.
For the eye exercise just move the eyeball up and down for 20 times. And move the eyeball in left and right direction for 20 times. Then rotate the eyeball for 20 times. Also move the eyeball in the diagonal direction for 20 times.
Regularly do this exercise daily for at least twice a day for getting a better results. Especially close your eyes with the hands by rubbing the palms for 2 to 3 minutes at the morning. This will relax and boosts up the cells.
Regular exercise and yoga
For getting a healthy body everyone want to do physical activities for about 30 – 40 minutes daily. Specifically by doing physical activities and maintaining a healthy diet, it makes a huge difference in your eyesight too.
Avoid smoking
Many might not know, but smoking also affects your eyesight. The nicotine in the smoke can affect your eyesight and
it can damage your optic nerve. Later it can cause cataract, diabetes, glaucoma and also other retinal problems.
So quit smoking if your eyesight is bad and also in general smoking is not good for health. Make these small changes in your day to day activities to life a happy and healthy life.

Do not rub the eyes
Lastly, I would want to say is if at all some dust enters your eyes or if they are dry, avoid rubbing it.
Because the cornea is a thin film that covers your eyes. If you rub it vigorously, it can damage.
